Zelensky wants ‘deal’ to stop Ukraine war, says Trump
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump stated on Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is determined to secure a resolution to Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia.
The comments came after the two leaders met in Paris over the weekend.
The meeting, facilitated by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace, included three-way discussions among Trump, Zelensky, and Macron. The talks come nearly three years into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and just weeks before Trump is set to assume office in January.
While no official details of the discussions were released, the meeting highlights the urgency of addressing the prolonged conflict as part of the international diplomatic agenda.
“Zelenskyy and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“There should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin. Too many lives are being so needlessly wasted, too many families destroyed, and if it keeps going, it can turn into something much bigger, and far worse.”
Zelensky’s meeting with Trump was his first face-to-face encounter with the tycoon-turned-politician since his November election victory.
