2027: Only God will decide who wins, not El-Rufai – Kaduna Commissioner

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Kaduna State, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has stated that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai has no authority over the 2027 elections, emphasizing that only God determines political outcomes.
Mamman Lagos also condemned El-Rufai’s remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, urging him to stay away from the state’s affairs.
According to him, “God will decide who wins the governorship and presidential elections in 2027.”
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the commissioner defended Governor Sani’s administration, highlighting his efforts in reversing unpopular policies from El-Rufai’s tenure. His remarks coincided with the endorsement of Tinubu and Sani for a second term in 2027 by Kaduna’s 255 councilors.
“We must set the record straight by reminding everyone that our good and amiable governor has never interfered with the running of the state in the past administration,” he stated. “Instead, he focused on passing bills and working for the betterment of his constituents. There is no reason he should now be distracted by someone who believes he has the power to make or break individuals.”
Mamman Lagos further accused El-Rufai of implementing policies that were detrimental to the people, while praising Governor Sani for reversing those measures.
“Governor Sani has successfully undone various anti-people policies of his predecessor, who rose to power through the goodwill of grassroots politicians like Uba Sani,” he noted. “He has restored confiscated properties, reversed high tuition fees, and reinstated traditional rulers who were deposed.”
He also credited the governor for initiating massive infrastructural projects across Kaduna’s three senatorial zones, refuting claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) serves only a particular segment of the state.
“We warn this individual and his associates to stop making inflammatory statements and empty threats as if he controls political success in the next election. The electorate will decide whom to support based on compassion and leadership,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kaduna’s 255 councilors have declared their unwavering support for Governor Uba Sani and President Tinubu, insisting that there is “no vacancy” in the Presidential Villa or Kaduna Government House in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the councilors, Muhammad Sani Badiko praised Sani’s administration for its remarkable achievements in rural development, economic recovery, education, and healthcare.
“The governor’s infrastructural projects are unprecedented in Kaduna’s history,” Badiko said. “We will mobilize grassroots support for his re-election in 2027, and we urge all political actors to wait until after 2031.”
