APC wins all contested positions in Imo LG poll
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a clean sweep in Imo State local council elections, winning all 332 contested positions.
According to Chief Charles Ejiogu, Chairman of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISEC), the APC took home all 27 council chairmanship seats and 305 councillorship positions ¹.
The elections, which took place across 4,758 polling units, saw 17 out of 19 registered political parties participating. Chief Ejiogu praised the stakeholders, including security agencies, the media, and political actors, for their cooperation and conduct during the process, describing the elections as peaceful, fair, and credible ¹.
This isn’t the first time the APC has dominated Imo State elections. In the 2023 gubernatorial election, incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma was re-elected, winning all 27 local government areas ¹.
