Presidency orders evacuation of Nigerians from Lebanon amid rising Israel-Iran conflict

The Presidency has issued an urgent directive to evacuate Nigerian citizens residing in Lebanon as the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies.

This decision comes after Iran launched hundreds of missiles at Israel in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, marking a significant escalation in tensions between the two nations.

Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari has vowed retaliation, labeling the missile attack a “serious threat.”

This latest strike follows a similar assault in April, when Iran deployed over 300 drones and missiles towards Israel, further heightening regional instability.

In light of the escalating situation, the Nigerian government has instructed its citizens in Lebanon to promptly contact the Nigerian mission for profiling, documentation, and eventual evacuation.

Dada Olusegun, President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on social media, confirmed the directive in a tweet on Tuesday night, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its nationals abroad.

Nigerians in Lebanon are urged to act swiftly as the situation continues to develop.
