All 23 players selected for Nigeria’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya have successfully reported to camp.

The final arrivals, Sevilla teammates Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke, joined the Super Eagles’ base in Uyo on Wednesday morning, providing a significant boost to caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen ahead of the match scheduled for Friday.

Iheanacho and Ejuke contributed to Sevilla’s recent 1-0 victory over Real Betis in La Liga, with Iheanacho remaining an unused substitute while Ejuke played the full match.

Although they missed the team’s first training session on Tuesday, both players are expected to participate in Wednesday’s preparations after recovering from their travel.

Fenerbahce’s Bright Osayi-Samuel, who also sat out Tuesday’s training, is anticipated to join the team as Nigeria aims for a decisive win against Libya.

Meanwhile, the Libyan national team, known as the Mediterranean Knights, arrived in Uyo on Wednesday following a lengthy journey from Tripoli via Abuja.

Under the direction of newly appointed head coach Nasser Al-Hadhiri, Libya is eager to improve their poor start in the qualifiers and will train in Uyo ahead of the crucial encounter.

With Nigeria currently holding four points from their first two matches, the Super Eagles are focused on strengthening their position in the qualifiers.

The reverse fixture is scheduled just four days later in Benina Libya.

Both teams are battling for a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament set to be held in Morocco.
