BREAKING: Tinubu scraps Niger Delta, Sports Ministries, merges others
President Bola Tinubu, during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, announced the scrapping of the Ministries of Niger Delta Development and Sports.
The announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via his X (formerly Twitter) account.
A new Ministry of Regional Development will replace the Niger Delta Ministry, overseeing regional development commissions such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.
Additionally, the National Sports Commission will now assume the functions previously held by the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Tourism will be merged with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. These changes were part of the government’s reforms aimed at streamlining functions and improving efficiency.
