US Election: Kamala Harris concedes defeat, congratulates Donald Trump
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, has officially conceded to President-elect Donald Trump following the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
According to CBS News, Harris placed a call to Trump, congratulating him on his win and emphasizing her commitment to a peaceful transition of power.
In her call, Harris expressed the importance of unity, underscoring that the presidency is a role that serves all Americans. She is expected to publicly address her supporters at Howard University later today, reinforcing her message of unity and democracy.
Meanwhile, Trump, through a letter signed by his campaign manager, extended his gratitude to his supporters, describing the win as “a political victory that our country has never seen before.” He pledged to bring the nation to new heights, vowing to “fight” for American interests a theme he emphasized throughout his campaign.
“I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve,” he says.
“Together, we’re going to unlock America’s glorious destiny. “Thank you once again for electing me in a landslide victory.”
