Troops neutralize six terrorists in Sokoto
In a determined effort to combat terrorism in Sokoto State, five soldiers tragically lost their lives during a coordinated military operation against Lakurawa terrorists in the Gudu Local Government Area.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma.
According to his statement, the operation, led by troops from the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade, resulted in an intense firefight that saw six terrorists neutralized.
“Despite this success, the operation came at a heavy cost, as five gallant soldiers tragically lost their lives in the line of duty,” the statement read.
Troops recovered the following items from the operation: four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one box of 12.7mm ammunition.
The military also called on the public to remain vigilant and alert in their communities, urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to terrorism or security threats in Gudu LGA and surrounding areas to security agencies.
According to the statement, public cooperation is essential in safeguarding lives and maintaining peace in our communities.
