Court issues arrest warrant on Reno Omokri over alleged defamation
A Magistrate Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest and detention of Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, over allegations of defamation against Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis Church.
The order, issued on January 13, 2025, also mandates the detention of former Dunamis Pastor Abraham Daniel and two others, Alexander Enenche and Peter Enenche.
The directive followed an ex-parte motion filed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to aid ongoing investigations.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna presided over the case and instructed that the accused remain in detention until their arraignment and prosecution, scheduled for January 30, 2025.
The allegations arose from a petition filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Patrick O. Okolo, accusing Omokri and the others of “cyberbullying, criminal defamation, dissemination of false information, and incitement of public unrest.”
The dispute is linked to Pastor Abraham Daniel’s resignation from Dunamis Church after over a decade of service, reportedly due to conflicts with Pastor Enenche.
Sources claim Daniel faced threats, social media attacks, and was allegedly arrested after a car accident linked to the fallout.
Daniel asserted he was coerced into apologizing and deleting social media posts about the church.
He further alleged that an agreement to compensate him for his losses was breached.
The police are investigating statements involving Omokri and others, including their roles in allegedly inciting tensions through social media posts.
The accused are to remain in custody until further court proceedings.
