Military breaks silence as drunk driver rams into soldiers during route march in Lagos
The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army has confirmed a fatal accident involving a suspected drunk driver who plowed into a group of soldiers during their routine route march in Lagos State.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, the Division’s spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, acknowledged the tragic incident, stating that an investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage caused.
According to him, the sad incident is confirmed, but investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the damage caused by the accident.
“Full details will come later,” Ayeni said.
NAN reports that a car driven by a suspected drunk driver, early Friday rammed into the soldiers around the Myoung Barracks Army Sports Camp on training exercise.
Unconfirmed reports said some soldiers sustained injuries while the car had been vandalised by aggrieved persons.
