Tragedy in Nnewi: Three siblings murdered, bodies found in deep freezer
Residents of Nnewichi in Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State, have been thrown into mourning following the gruesome murder of three young siblings by unknown assailants.
The killers, yet to be identified, reportedly hid the children’s bodies inside a deep freezer in their home after the attack.
The victims, identified as Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (9), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Edozie Chimdilim David (5), were reportedly attacked while their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie—a lecturer and nurse—was away for an examination.
According to reports, Mrs. Ejezie returned home to find the door wide open, an unusual sight since her children always locked it when alone. After an unsuccessful search, she and a search party opened the deep freezer, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of the children.
Narrating his pain, the father, Mr. Ejezie Udobi, who resides in Irrua, Edo State, said his wife called to inform him of the horrific incident.
> “My wife told me after searching for the kids without success, the deep freezer was opened, and behold, the dead bodies of the kids were there,” he recounted in shock.
Describing the crime scene, he added:
“The kids were eating when the assailants stormed the house around noon. There were traces of food in their plates, showing they were forcefully interrupted.”
The tragic loss has left the family and the community devastated. The bodies have since been deposited at a morgue, while the case has been reported to the Central Police Station in Nnewi.
Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, had ordered a full-scale investigation into the case.
“The bodies have been recovered, and the CP has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation. More details will be shared later,” he stated.
Shocked residents of Nnewichi have condemned the murder and are demanding swift justice.
“This is a heart-wrenching incident. We demand that those responsible be fished out and brought to justice without delay,” a community leader said.
As investigations intensify, the community hopes that the perpetrators will be identified and held accountable for the brutal killing of the innocent children.
