Obasa absent as Lagos Assembly pledges loyalty to Tinubu, commends economic policies
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have reaffirmed their unwavering support and loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, citing his impressive achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda and his impact on Nigeria’s socioeconomic progress.
At the plenary session on Thursday, February 7, 2025, lawmakers took turns applauding Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting his bold economic decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies, student loan provisions, the new national minimum wage, and policies that have strengthened the naira.
Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency I, moved the motion, praising the President for reducing the cost of living and implementing policies that have revitalized the economy. Eti Osa Constituency II representative, Gbolahan Yishawu, commended the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for promoting homegrown farming.
Majority Leader Temitope Adewale emphasized that Tinubu played a significant role in grooming many politicians, including the assembly members. Speaker Mojisola Meranda also lauded Tinubu and his wife for their leadership qualities, leading the House to resolve to formally communicate its loyalty and commendation to the President.
Notably, the session took place just a month after the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who was absent from the plenary.
