The Kwara State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

The attack occurred late Saturday night around 10:00 p.m. when the assailants ambushed and fatally shot him in front of his residence in Oke Ose, Ilorin.

A source revealed that the attackers left Sakaina in a pool of blood without taking any of his belongings, raising questions about their motive.

A witness, Aina’u Sarki, recounted: “I was with him 20 minutes before he was killed. Someone called me on the phone and informed me that he had been shot dead.”

Confirming the incident, the Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations (Fulani), Muhammed Abdullahi, said, “Yes, he was killed in front of his residence on Saturday night by some gunmen who left him for dead. We are preparing for his janaza (burial) as I speak, but the police have already started an investigation.”

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, acknowledged the incident but had yet to provide further details as of the time of filing this report.

Sakaina, 32, was a former Special Assistant to the Moro Local Government Chairman and also served as a youth leader among the Fulani community in Kwara State.
