Amotekun arrest fake NIN official in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has uncovered a fraudulent National Identity Number (NIN) official operating in the state.  

According to a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Saturday by the Head of Communications Department, Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, under the directive of the Ekiti State Amotekun Commander, Brigadier General Ibukunoluwa Adewa, the suspect, Tayo Ige, was apprehended by the Ise Ekiti Amotekun Operatives.

Tayo Ige, a 26-year-old native of Odo Emure, was arrested along the First Bank road on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

Upon investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting to defrauding numerous individuals by falsely presenting himself as an NIN registration official.

He, however, narrated the tactics employed towards carrying out his deceptive mission by always visiting some areas in Emure-Ekiti with fake official materials of the National Identification Number (NIN) to cajole them.

The Amotekun Officer, who effected his arrest, further explained that he was apprehended in the said town during a security patrol.

He adding that he was immediately transferred to Amotekun Headquarters Command.
