Anambra police arrest suspect in teenage trafficking ring
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspect involved in the trafficking of teenagers aged between 13 and 16.
Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the arrest during a press briefing in Awka, revealing that the suspect had trafficked several victims to neighboring countries, including Ghana.
Some of the victims have been successfully rescued and returned to Nigeria, while a search is underway to apprehend other members of the trafficking ring.
The arrest follows increased reports of missing teenagers in the state. Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam has directed intensified efforts to tackle this issue and ensure the safety of young residents.
“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation with the police. This will assist in rescuing other victims and tracking down additional gang members,” he said.
