Austin Eguaveon has stepped down from his role as interim coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles following their goalless draw against Rwanda in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

According to a report by Owngoalnigeria, Eguaveon confirmed that his mandate was limited to two matches, which concluded with the Rwanda game.

“My mandate was for two games, and it ends today. I appreciate my players and the NFF leadership for their support,” Eguaveon stated, reflecting on his brief time in charge of the national team.

His departure follows the Super Eagles’ mixed performances during the qualifiers, including a 3-0 win over Benin Republic.
