Court nullifies suit seeking Ganduje’s sack as APC Chairman
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit aimed at removing Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled on Monday that the case brought by the APC North Central Group was premature and pertained to an internal matter of the political party.
The court found that the plaintiff lacked legal standing, as the group had not been registered and thus had no capacity to file the suit.
Justice Ekwo emphasized that the appointment of party officers by the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is an internal affair that courts should not interfere with.
The plaintiff had argued that Ganduje’s appointment violated the APC’s Constitution, contending that since the chairmanship was zoned to the North Central region, any replacement for the previous chairman should also originate from that area.
The court’s dismissal reaffirms the importance of internal resolution mechanisms within political parties before seeking judicial intervention.
