Dismissed Kwara Police Officers remanded to prison custody
Three police officers dismissed from the Kwara Police Command have been remanded in prison in connection to the death of Qoyum Ishola.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Friday, the former officers are facing charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. The officers were dismissed following an investigation into their involvement in the death of Ishola, which has sparked public outrage.
The case highlights concerns about police misconduct and accountability within the force, as the officers now await trial.
The statement reads: “The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the three dismissed officers, Mr Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, have been charged to court on 16th October, 2024.
They face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola. They have been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings.”
