El-Rufai unveils new initiative in the North

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is spearheading an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming the tech ecosystem in Northern Nigeria.

This groundbreaking effort will bring together technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and policymakers from across Africa to significantly boost technology investments in the region.

The Arewa Tech Fest 2024, set to take place in Kano State from September 25 to 26, will serve as the official launch for this initiative. According to a statement by Bello El-Rufai, one of El-Rufai’s sons, the event has garnered strong support from Kano State’s Governor, Abba Yusuf.

The festival will showcase the latest advancements in technology and innovation while promoting entrepreneurship and digital solutions. It aims to foster collaboration that can drive economic growth in Northern Nigeria.

Distinguished speakers at the event include Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank; Sumaila Zubairu, CEO of Africa Finance Corporation; and Amal Hassan, Founder of Outsource Global.

El-Rufai emphasized that the festival marks a significant milestone, highlighting the untapped potential of Northern Nigeria in the tech and innovation sectors. The event aims to inspire and equip the next generation of tech leaders, especially women and youth, with the tools needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

In addition to the festival, the Arewa Tech Fund will be launched to provide crucial financial support and resources to promising tech startups in Northern Nigeria.
