EPL: Man Utd comes from behind to beat Brentford 2-1
For the second consecutive season, Manchester United staged a comeback at Old Trafford to secure a vital 2-1 win over Brentford, easing the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
Ethan Pinnock’s injury-time header gave Brentford the lead at halftime, but Alejandro Garnacho broke United’s Premier League goal drought early in the second half with a superb first-time finish from Marcus Rashford’s cross.
Rasmus Hojlund clinched the victory in the 62nd minute, deftly chipping Brentford’s keeper after a brilliant assist from Bruno Fernandes, as United rallied for another crucial result.
However, for Ten Hag, this victory could be more significant.
The Dutchman accused the media of creating ‘fairytales and lies’ over his position, but given United started the game in 14th, anything other than victory would fuel negativity around Ten Hag before Thursday’s Europa League trip to Fenerbahce.
