A major fire broke out at Adamawa State’s largest health facility, Specialists Hospital Yola, late Tuesday night, causing significant damage to a section of the hospital.

This is the second time in three years that the hospital has experienced such a devastating event, with valuable health equipment suffering severe damage.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who had just returned from a trip out of the state, visited the scene immediately upon arrival. He expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as unfortunate and labeling it an act of sabotage. The governor assured the public that the damages would be addressed promptly to prevent any disruption in clinical services.

Accompanied by top government officials, Governor Fintiri emphasized his commitment to restoring the affected section of the hospital as quickly as possible. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Felix Tangwami, also commented on the incident, noting that the fire had affected a passive storage area for equipment, meaning that the provision of health services to the public would not be significantly impacted.

The state government is expected to launch an investigation into the cause of the fire and take necessary steps to prevent such occurrences in the future.
