Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai, has been appointed Chairman of the Fire Prevention Week and Expo, as well as Nigerian Humanitarian Action’s (NIHA) international flagship program in the United States.

This appointment aims to tackle the rising incidence of fire outbreaks across Nigeria.

Dr. Kletsaint Akor, Chairman of NIHA and the Proponents Council of Nigeria Fire Prevention Week, hailed Buratai’s role as a “game-changer” in the battle against fire incidents.

Known for his military expertise, Buratai has committed to rallying support from stakeholders to reduce fire disasters.

The collaboration between NIHA and the Federal Fire Service is set to enhance fire safety measures, improve response strategies, and boost public awareness. Despite significant budget allocations, fire outbreaks continue to threaten public properties and the economy.

NIHA is hopeful that Buratai’s leadership will bring a more effective approach to addressing fire hazards in Nigeria.
