Four easy ways to unblock your MTN, Airtel, others using shortcode
Nigerian telecommunication companies have provided clear guidelines to help subscribers unblock their SIM cards, following recent disconnections due to the ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) – SIM harmonisation exercise.
This initiative, aimed at enhancing the integrity of the national SIM registration database, has left many users facing temporary service disruptions.
To assist affected customers, telecom companies outlined the following steps to restore connectivity:
1. Verify NIN Registration:
Ensure your NIN is registered and correctly linked to your SIM card. You can verify this by dialing the specific USSD code provided by your telecom operator.
2. Submit NIN Details:*
– **MTN:** Dial *785*NIN# or visit the MTN website or nearest service center.
– **Airtel:** Dial *121*1# or visit the Airtel website or nearest service center.
– **Glo:** Dial *109*NIN# or visit the Glo website or nearest service center.
– **9mobile:** Dial *200*8# or visit the 9mobile website or nearest service center.
3. **Visit the NIMC Enrollment Center:**
If you encounter issues with your NIN, visit the nearest National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment center to resolve discrepancies or update your details.
4. **Follow Up with Customer Service:**
If your SIM remains blocked after submitting your NIN, contact the customer service of your telecom provider for assistance.
By following these guidelines, affected subscribers can restore their services and ensure compliance with the NIN-SIM harmonisation requirements.
