Gombe United GM, Abubakar named Flying Eagles coordinator
Malam Abubakar Abubakar, General Manager of Gombe United, has been appointed as the new coordinator of the Flying Eagles.
The announcement was made through Gombe United’s social media channels.
The Flying Eagles are in the midst of preparations for the WAFU B U-20 Championship, set to take place in Abuja.
As part of their training, the team has played two friendly matches, securing a 1-0 victory against Water FC of Abuja but suffering a 1-0 defeat in their second game against Marlintarki.
The WAFU Championship will determine which team from the zone will qualify for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
In addition, the Nigeria Football Federation recently appointed Aliyu Zubairu as the new head coach of the Flying Eagles, according to reports from News360 Nigeria.
Abubakar and Zubairu previously worked together at Gombe United in 2023
