Gombe: We can’t afford to pay N70,000 minimum wage — Gov Inuwa

Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, emphasized that the state’s limited allocation from the Federation Account makes it impossible to implement the increased wage package.

Yahaya stated that despite the desire to improve workers’ welfare, the financial constraints due to the state’s allocation from the Federation Account hinder the implementation of the new wage package.

He called for understanding and patience from the workers, assuring them that the state government is committed to finding a viable solution to address their concerns.

In his words, “I cannot pay the N70,000 minimum wage, and I suspect many other states are in the same predicament with us.”
