Man United set to build £2bn, 100,000-seater iconic stadium

Manchester United have revealed ambitious plans to construct the largest football stadium in the United Kingdom, a state-of-the-art, 100,000-seat venue costing £2 billion.
The new stadium will be built near Old Trafford, which will be demolished once construction is complete.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s co-owner, expressed his vision of creating the “world’s greatest football stadium,” with hopes of completing the project within the next five years.
This decision follows an extensive consultation process, during which the club considered either redeveloping Old Trafford or constructing a brand-new facility.
Old Trafford has been Manchester United’s home since 1910.
The club would continue to play at Old Trafford until the new stadium was ready.
Senior club sources have previously said it would not be cost effective to shrink it for use as a home for United’s women’s and youth teams.
Architects at Foster and Partners, who will design the project, said the new stadium would feature an umbrella design and a new public plaza that is “twice the size of Trafalgar Square”.
