Many feared dead as soldiers, gunmen clash in Imo

A deadly confrontation between soldiers and armed gunmen erupted in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, leaving numerous casualties in its wake.

News360 Nigeria gathered that the shootout took place late last night in the Aba branch area, with sources confirming that several soldiers were killed by the armed group.

Eyewitnesses described the situation as chaotic, with the clash quickly escalating into a full-blown battle that spread across the area.

“The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities,” one source reported.

Fearing for their safety, local residents fled their homes as the sound of gunfire echoed through the night. Many families left abruptly, unsure of when they would be able to return.

“We are terrified. The sound of gunfire is still echoing in our ears. Ehime used to be a peaceful place, but now we are living in fear,” one resident shared.

As of now, there has been no official statement from either the police or military authorities regarding the incident.
