MC Oluomo elected National President of NURTW
Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has been elected as the new National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The former Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter was the sole candidate in the election, held at the Union’s Zonal Secretariat along the Osogbo/Ikirun road on Saturday.
Delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti States participated in the Quadrennial Delegate Conference, which also saw the election of Tajudeen Agbede as Vice President, Southwest, and Akeem Adeosun as Trustee from the zone.
The election was observed by acting National President Aliyu Issa-Ore, who emphasized the constitutional requirement that allows the Southwest zone to select a candidate for the national presidency and present the nominee to the national body.
Issa-Ore’s representative, Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance at the NURTW National Headquarters, confirmed that all constitutional provisions were adhered to in the election process.
After taking the oath of office, Akinsanya expressed his gratitude and urged for peace and unity within the Union.
He further stated, “I have forgiven everyone who has offended me, and I hope those I have offended will forgive me as well.
“This is our union, and we must be committed to preserving it. We will not allow anyone to destroy our means of livelihood.”
