Manchester City star, Jack Grealish has opened up about his last conversation with the late Craig Shakespeare, former Leicester City coach, who recently passed away.

In a touching tribute, Grealish revealed the words of encouragement Shakespeare shared with him during a challenging time.

Grealish, who was surprisingly left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad, received a heartfelt message from Shakespeare.

The former coach, who had previously worked with Grealish at Aston Villa, offered words of encouragement, urging him to stay focused and keep working hard.

Shakespeare’s family had on Thursday confirmed that he had ‘passed away peacefully at home’ at the age of 60.

Reacting to the sad news, Grealish also said that he was ‘absolutely devastated’.

“Shakey, one of the greatest people I’ve ever met, not only in football but in life,” Grealish posted on Instagram.

“Last month [he] was texting me when I didn’t make the Euros squad whilst he was ill shows the type of man he was!”

“[He said]: Jack, sometimes it’s hard to know what to say,’ Shakespeare wrote to Grealish. ‘But I’m gutted for you and thinking about you.”

Grealish added, “An absolute heart of gold! Everyone really will miss you, Shakey. Absolutely devastated. Sending all my love to his family.”

Grealish worked with Shakespeare during their time together at Aston Villa.
