The National Hospital Abuja plans to create a VIP section specifically designed for presidents, high-ranking government officials, and other esteemed individuals, both domestic and international.

Prof. Mahmud Raji, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, announced this development during a recent meeting with News Men in Abuja.

He described the upcoming VIP section as a high-end facility, comparable to a five-star or seven-star hotel, designed to offer luxurious accommodations and specialized medical services.

The VIP area will feature a toxicology lab for poison testing, a renal clinic for kidney transplants, a cardiac center, an orthopedic center, and a neuroscience institute for training and medical services. Prof. Raji noted that these facilities are crucial given the increasing incidence of kidney diseases and cardiac issues in Nigeria.

He also mentioned that the hospital might pursue a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to develop this section, though government support could also be considered depending on available resources.

In addition, the National Hospital will mark its 25th anniversary from September 2 to 8, showcasing its advancements in manpower, equipment, and infrastructure. The celebration will include a symposium and a gala night.

Prof. Raji emphasized the need to reduce medical tourism and brain drain by highlighting the hospital’s capabilities and fostering collaborations with media and other partners.

He praised Media Trust Group for its reliable news coverage and expressed a commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two organizations.
