In Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is a paramilitary agency tasked with managing drug laws and regulations.
It is in charge of preventing the illegal manufacture, distribution, and trafficking of psychoactive substances, which are against national law.
NDLEA Ranks
The Consolidated Paramilitary Salary System (CONPASS) is followed when creating the NDLEA’s ranks and pay structure.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s ranks are categorized as follows:
Commissioned officers
These employees are recognized as senior officers; their selection is predicated on their years of service and academic credentials. Among the ranks are;
- Commander General of Narcotics (CGN)
- Deputy Commander General of Narcotic (DCGN)
- Commander of Narcotics (CN)
- Deputy Commander of Narcotics (DCN)
- Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN)
- Superintendent of Narcotics (SN)
- Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN)
- Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN)
Non-Commissioned officers
The officers in this category are considered junior staff and are at the bottom of the NDLEA hierarchy.
When hiring new officers, their qualifications are also taken into account. Among these ranks are;
- Chief Narcotics Agent (CNA)
- Senior Narcotics Agent (SNA)
- Senior Narcotics Assistant I (SNA I)
- Narcotics Agent (NA)
- Narcotics Assistant 1 (NA I)

Officers in the NDLEA are paid according to their ranks; the higher the rank, the greater the pay, and vice versa.
