Brigadier General Abubakar Aliyu has made history by becoming the second General in the Nigerian Army to jump from a moving plane, a feat he accomplished at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna.
This remarkable display of courage and leadership mirrors the achievement of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. KTJ Minimah, who was previously the most senior Nigerian Army officer to execute a parachute jump.
Aliyu, who serves as Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, was not alone in this daring feat. He was accompanied by cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), marking their first-ever parachute jump and a significant milestone in their journey toward becoming officers in the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Speaking after the jump, Aliyu emphasized the importance of leading from the front and demonstrating the Nigerian Army’s ethos: ‘No Guts, No Glory’.
“For the cadets who jumped alongside me, this experience will be unforgettable, instilling confidence, courage, and a deep understanding of true leadership,” he said.
His action serves as a reminder that in the Nigerian Army, true leaders do not just give orders but share in the challenges and triumphs of those they command.
