NPFL: Emekayi named Rivers United captain

Published

on

Rivers United has appointed Temple Emekayi as the new captain of the team following the departure of forward Nyima Nwagua, who recently transferred to Saudi Arabia.

Emekayi, a centre-back, has already led the team in their opening five matches this season, showcasing his leadership skills.

Supporting Emekayi in his role will be left-back Paul Odeh, who has been named the assistant captain.

Since joining Rivers United in January 2019, Emekayi has become a key figure within the squad, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success, including their 2021/22 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title victory.
