The Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has fixed August 2, 2024, as the date for delivering judgment in the infamous Offa robbery case, which dates back to April 5, 2018.

After a prolonged trial spanning over five years, Presiding Judge Haleeman Salman took a significant step towards concluding proceedings by accepting the final written submissions from both lead counsels on Monday. Representing the state is Rotimi Jacob (SAN), while Barrister Mathias Emeribe is defending the accused in this high-profile legal saga.

Six suspects were initially arrested in connection with the robbery, which targeted five commercial banks in Offa and resulted in the deaths of over 30 people, including nine policemen.

Ayoade Akinnibosun and four others are currently on trial, facing charges of criminal conspiracy, murder, and illegal possession of firearms. One suspect, Michael Adikwu, died in police custody.

The court’s judgment date is tentative, pending any further developments in the case.
