Operatives from the Lagos Police Command have detained the owner of three Boerboel dogs suspected of fatally attacking a security guard at Pinnock Estate in Lekki, Lagos State.

In a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), shared by user @itzbasito, the security guard’s lifeless body is seen as the dogs circle nearby. According to the user, the dogs reportedly roamed freely after their owner unknowingly left them unleashed, leading to the tragic incident on Monday night.

Lagos State Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident on X, posting, “The dog owner has been arrested and is in our custody.” Responding to claims from another user, @chukwuebukaolu2, that a hit-and-run vehicle may have been involved, Hundeyin stated that “Investigation is ongoing.”

The incident has sparked concerns over pet control and public safety regulations in residential estates.
