Protesters in Kano City set up a bonfire in front of the Government House as part of the nationwide demonstration against economic hardship.

The demonstration, which began with participants gathering from various parts of the city, took a tense turn when some protesters set tyres on fire near the entrance of the Government House, where Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was expected to address them.

In response, security operatives deployed at the Government House used gunshots and teargas to disperse the crowd, resulting in confusion as protesters fled in different directions.

This incident reflects the heightened tensions and unrest stemming from widespread dissatisfaction with the current economic situation and governance issues in Nigeria.
