The Yobe State Police Command has announced the arrest of Usmanu Garba, a 30-year-old suspected member of a notorious criminal gang.
The Command’s spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed the details in a statement released to the public.
On July 5, 2024, at approximately 1300 hours, detectives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) arrested Garba in Katarko village, Gujba LGA.
Garba was apprehended while on his way to spend his share of proceeds from a recent kidnapping operation. The suspect is believed to be part of a gang specializing in armed robbery, kidnapping, and cattle rustling in Gujba LGA and neighboring areas.
The gang was responsible for a recent kidnapping incident in Babaram Muktum, a Fulani settlement in Gujba LGA, where they abducted a resident and collected a ransom of N1.6 million. They also robbed the victim’s father of his Techno phone during the incident.
DSP Abdulkarim stated that other members of the syndicate are currently on the run, but the Command is intensifying efforts to apprehend them and bring them to justice.
