Profile of Olusegun Alebiosu, FBN managing director
In this post, News360 Nigeria documents the profile of Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, Managing director of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN).
Olusegun Alebiosu is a Nigerian business executive and banker who has been named as the managing director and chief executive officer of First Bank of Nigeria Limited.
Before his new appointment, Alebiosu was acting Managing Director of the bank since April 2024, when the former MD, Adesola Adeduntan, resigned.
With over 28 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector, Segun brings to FirstBank’s Executive Management a cross-functional exposure to credit risk management, financial planning and control, credit and marketing, trade, corporate and commercial banking, financing for agriculture, oil and gas, transportation (including shipping and aviation), and project financing.
Background
Segun hails from the Yoruba tribe and is happily married with children, he is also an avid golfer and an adventurer.
Alebiosu graduated from the University of Lagos with a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations and personnel management as well as a master’s degree in international law and diplomacy.
Along with his Harvard Kennedy School of Government degree, he also holds a Master of Science in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Career
Alebiosu began his banking career in 1991 at Oceanic Bank Plc.
Alebiosu was the Chief Risk Officer at Coronation Merchant Bank before taking on the same role at First Bank Nigeria in September of 2016.
He has also worked for United Bank for Africa and the African Development Bank.
He was named the CRC Credit Bureau’s chair in July 2020.
Alebiosu was elevated to the position of executive director, risk management & executive compliance officer, on the First Bank Nigeria board in January 2022.
Professional affiliations
He is a member of numerous professional associations, such as the Nigerian Institute of Management, the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
Appointment
Alebiosu was appointed acting managing director of First Bank of Nigeria after Adesola Adeduntan resigned from the position in April 2024.
In June 2024, Alebiosu was granted full authority as managing director of the organization.
