Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep condolences to the victims of a devastating rainstorm that struck Mayigi Community Comprehensive High School, Ilase, in Ipokia Local Government Area.

The tragic incident claimed the life of a 14-year-old Junior Secondary School 3 student, Timothy Amosun, while injuring five other students, two teachers, a food vendor, and her seven-month-old child.

Governor Abiodun described the event as a “rude shock” and a “pathetic loss,” offering prayers for the strength and comfort of the bereaved family.

He extended his support to those affected, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of students and school infrastructure across the state.

The governor said the government would be responsible for the medical bills of the injured, adding that he had directed concerned agencies to move the victims who are in critical condition to specialist hospitals within and outside the state, where they are currently receiving maximum medical attention.

He also stated that he has directed the Commissioner for Education to visit the families of the victims and the school to take inventory of what needs to be done to rebuild the damaged school.
