Surge in hoax bomb threats causes flight disruptions in India
At least 10 flights in India have faced hoax bomb threats in the past 48 hours, leading to significant delays and flight diversions. Affected airlines include Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air.
On Tuesday, Singapore’s Air Force escorted an Air India Express plane to safety following a bomb threat.
Additionally, an Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago had to make an emergency landing in Canada as a precautionary measure.
While hoax bomb threats to Indian airlines are not uncommon, the sudden rise since Monday has puzzled authorities.
Investigations are underway, and some suspects, including a teenager, have been detained.
Threats posted on social media have led to delays, with security agencies conducting thorough inspections to ensure passenger safety.
Airlines are considering legal actions to recover damages caused by the disruptions.
