Teenager dead, 21 others injured as gas explosion rocks Kano

A devastating gas explosion at Goron Dutse Quarters in Kano has claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy and left 21 others with severe injuries.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the residence of Malam Isiyaka Rabiu, after a gas cylinder reportedly exploded in the kitchen.
According to a statement from the Kano State Police Command, the explosion led to a fire that rapidly spread through parts of the house before emergency responders managed to contain it.
A team of police officers, led by ACP Nuhu Mohammed Digi of the Dala Area Command, arrived at the scene alongside firefighters to coordinate rescue efforts.
The injured victims were immediately evacuated to Gamji Hospital, Dala Orthopaedic Hospital, and Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have since restored calm in the area, while the Police have expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and commended the swift action of emergency responders.
