Teenager stab friend to death over mobile phone in Niger State

Police in Niger State have apprehended Mohammed Isah for allegedly fatally stabbing his companion, Nurudeen Nuhu, in response to a disagreement regarding a mobile phone.

The incident transpired in the abattoir area of Kwata Tayi village, Minna.

According to reports, the two friends engaged in a physical altercation over a mobile phone, during which Isah allegedly stabbed Nuhu in the stomach with a knife.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident took place Sunday morning.

After being stabbed, Nuhu collapsed and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger State Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

“It was reported at GRA Division that there was a fight between one Mohammed Isah of Angwan-Biri and Nurudeen Nuhu of Angwan-Daji at the abattoir area, Kwata Tayi village, over a handset issue.

“During the fight, Mohammed Isah allegedly stabbed Nurudeen with a knife in the stomach.

“Police operatives attached to the Division moved to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, where he gave up the ghost and was confirmed dead,” Abiodun stated.

Abiodun confirmed that Mohammed Isah has been arrested and that a preliminary investigation is ongoing.

“He will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution,” he added.
