In the early hours of Sunday morning, five mobile police officers were ambushed and killed by bandits in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident took place at approximately 6 a.m. as the officers were en route from Zandam village to the council headquarters in Jibia.

Four officers died at the scene, while a fifth officer succumbed to injuries at the Federal Medical Centre in Katsina. The assailants stole five AK-47 rifles from the fallen officers.

The state’s police spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident but has yet to provide a detailed statement.

A security report labeled the area as high-risk, advising police personnel to avoid the highway due to frequent terrorist activities.

Jibia and neighboring areas in Kaduna and Zamfara States have seen frequent terrorist attacks, making daily life challenging for locals. The bandits have been targeting roads, farms, and homes in the region.
