Tragic collision on Kaduna-Zaria road claims 11 lives
In a devastating incident on Friday morning, 11 travelers were killed in a collision between a truck and a Golf car on the Kaduna-Zaria road.
The accident occurred around 5:50 a.m. at Gwargwaje, Zaria.
The victims, all traveling in the Golf car with registration number FST 134FX, lost their lives in the crash. Kabir Nadabo, the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident and reported that four occupants of the truck sustained injuries.
Nadabo stated that a team from the Gwargwaje Police Division carried out the initial rescue operation before informing the Unit Commander of the RS1.3 Zaria division. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Golf car, carrying 11 men, was driving against traffic without headlights when it collided with the oncoming MAN truck, which had four people on board.
“The impact of the collision led to the instant death of all 11 passengers in the Golf car,” Nadabo stated. “The injured individuals in the truck were promptly taken to ABUTH Shika for medical attention.”
The tragic accident has sparked calls for the establishment of a police outpost at Gwargwaje to curb reckless driving and enhance the safety of motorists on this busy highway.
