Unidentified body recovered from well in Kano
On Saturday, the Kano State Fire Service retrieved the body of an unidentified man from a well in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano.
Saminu Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Fire Service, confirmed the incident, which occurred on November 2, 2024.
The department received an emergency call at around 4:15 p.m. from the Divisional Police Officer of the Kwalli Police Division, reporting a sighting of a lifeless body in a well at an unfinished building in the Kadama Bakin Titi area.
Upon arrival, the police noticed dried blood stains around the well, suggesting possible foul play.
When the rescue team peered into the well, they discovered the decomposing body of a man, believed to be around 25 years old.
His identity remains unknown, and residents could not recognize him. Abdullahi noted that the swollen state of the body indicated it had likely been in the well for approximately four days.
The body was removed and handed over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of the Kumbotso Police Division, for further investigation.
