UNIMAID HoD, Prof Ruth Wazis reportedly dies in domestic accident

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the passing of Prof. Ruth Haruna Wazis, the former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri.

She was tragically killed in an accident that occurred at her residence. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the incident took place on Sunday, June 30, 2024, as disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal.

Lawal said that the Prof. was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her on the ground and stepping her chest.

He said that she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries before being taken to the hospital. The police boss added that her remains were taken to the hospital by members of her family.
