Following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, Nigerian soldiers have reportedly been deployed to take over the Rivers State Government House.

A viral video circulating online shows military personnel heading towards the Government House, shortly after Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) as sole administrator of the state.

The deployment comes amid the ongoing political tension between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which has escalated in recent months.

President Tinubu had cited governance paralysis and rising security concerns as reasons for the emergency rule, stating that no responsible leader would ignore the worsening situation in Rivers State.
