Wigwe University mourns again as Registrar dies after blood transfusion
Ulonna Inyama, the Registrar of Wigwe University, has passed away in a hospital in Abuja.
Ms. Inyama died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment for anaemia, having received a blood transfusion before her death.
Before her tenure at Wigwe University, Inyama held several significant positions, including Chief Personnel Officer and Head of Strategic Communications/Special Duties at the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Her career at the NUC spanned nearly two decades, where she contributed to various directorates, including Quality Assurance and Academic Planning.
She was also involved in numerous projects, policy and strategic committees, and working groups within the Nigerian university system.
Inyama was a bilingual administrator with a first-class honours degree in French and a master’s degree in International Development from the University of Birmingham, specializing in governance, conflict, and social reconstruction.
Her late father, Professor Nnadozie Inyama, was a literary scholar at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
The passing of Ms. Inyama comes shortly after the tragic death of Wigwe University’s founder, Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife, Chizoba, and their first son, Chizi, in a helicopter crash in Southern California on February 9. Wigwe University is scheduled to launch in September.
