The Super Eagles of Nigeria have played a 1-1 with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the third match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match held in Uyo.

South Africa took the lead in the 29th minute when Themba Zwane dribbled past the Nigerian defence and sent the ball beyond Stanley Nwabali’s grasp in goal for the Super Eagles.

In the 46th minute, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru got Nigeria back into the game with an exquisite solo effort from outside the box.

Series of chances then fell to the Super Eagles to snatch a win but the crossbar and the impressive Ronwen Williams in goal for South Africa denied Nigeria a needed win.

The Super Eagles, as a result of the draw, remain winless in three games of their qualifying campaign, and sit in fifth position as their quest to make it to the 2026 World Cup hang in the balance.
