EPL: Real reason Leandro Trossard will play against Leicester amidst red card

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard will be available for selection in the upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium, despite receiving a red card in the recent match against Manchester City.

Trossard was sent off by referee Michael Oliver for a second yellow card just before half-time, after he kicked the ball away following a foul on Bernardo Silva.

The incident was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which confirmed that Trossard was booked for delaying the restart.

Following the game, Trossard reportedly expressed to his teammates that he did not hear the whistle and intended to pass to a colleague.

Since Trossard’s dismissal was due to two yellow cards, he faces only a one-match suspension, applicable to all English competitions.

As Arsenal is set to host Bolton in the third round of the EFL Cup later tonight, Trossard’s absence will effectively mean he has served his suspension, allowing him to return for the league encounter against Leicester.

Declan Rice had earlier received a second yellow card for the same offence in Arsenal’s third Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion this season
